Hello everyone! Today we’re going to jump right in, but first I wanted to ask you all a question. Are you a fan of mystery stories? I sure am! And if you are to, you’re sure to love the Nancy Drew Diaries series by Carolyn Keene. But one in particular is my favorite, and that is the eleventh book called The Red Slippers. I like this one lots because the plot is creative and intriguing, as well as suspenseful (something every good mystery book will need). Since it’s also largely about ballet, it’s quite interesting to see how the shows are set up backstage, and how the criminal used that to his advantage. So let’s dive deeper into this story.

Nancy Drew and her best friends, Bess and George, are simply at a cafe when Bess and Nancy bump into an old friend from former ballet classes. Maggie was always amazing at the dance, and now she’s in a touring production of Sleeping Beauty! This all just feels like a harmless reunion with the great ballet dancer, yet that’s about to change. Because when Maggie has to go to rehearsal before she’s late, she gets a nasty shock. Someone had changed the time on her phone to earlier than it is in reality! Nancy and her two besties jump in to speed drive Maggie to the studio, barely making it in time. All the while, the dancer thinks she knows whose behind this, so she refuses to let Nancy investigate the believed to be suspicious person. Well, Nancy can’t let that slide, and finds a loop whole so that she can stop this situation before things get even more serious. But it might be too late, because after the messed-with phone, Maggie’s face had been vandalized on the posters for the show. Then her dressing room, well, the criminal is getting bolder and crazier, and the final show is getting closer and closer, until Nancy is forced to use bait. But when that doesn’t even reveal the culprit, the young detective must think harder than ever to crack this complicated case wide open, and to save Maggie’s big day.

Something about this book just draws me in, and I’ve probably read it more than any of the other Nancy Drew Diaries books I own. That being said, all of those stories are delectable and if you read this one and like, I highly suggest you read others. After all, Carolyn Keene is a true mystery mastermind.
